The Tattoo Projectmore than skin deep: The Stories We Wear

Welcome to the Tattoo Project
More Than Skin Deep: The Stories We Wear
In a world where so many things feel out of our control, there is one thing we can choose: how we express ourselves. Our tattoo project aims to highlight the stark contrast between the painful reality many children with cancer face and the empowering decisions adults have when it comes to tattoos.
The Story Behind the Project
Children undergoing cancer treatment often receive tattoos to mark the spots for radiation therapy. These tattoos are given with no choice — no say in the design, placement, or timing. For them, these markings are a symbol of their fight, a reminder of what they must endure in order to survive.
But for many of us, tattoos represent empowerment — a personal choice, a piece of art, and a story we choose to tell on our skin, where we want, when we want. This project is about celebrating that freedom of choice, while honoring the strength and resilience of those who do not get the luxury of making those decisions.

Be Part of the Project!
The purpose of our project is to highlight the contrast between the tattoos given to individuals undergoing cancer treatment and those chosen by individuals for personal expression. Through this project, we aim to raise funds for Edmarc, an organization dedicated to providing hospice care for children in need.
We are inviting people to come in and be photographed as part of this powerful tattoo project. You’ll share your story, your tattoo, and the journey behind it. This is not just about showcasing your ink — it’s about using your body as a canvas to reflect your power, your autonomy, and your voice.
Who: Anyone with a tattoo
When: Between now and May 30th
Why Get Involved?
Give Back: We’re proud to donate 100% of your nomination fee from this project to Edmarc, a local pediatric cancer hospice that provides support to children and their families during the most difficult times. Your participation directly impacts these children and their families.
