The beauty is in the chaos of every day life…especially when you have 4 daughters. Each child has their own unique personality and just when you figure them out, they start to change. It definitely keeps you on your toes as a parent. Speaking with Emily and Piper, the thing that struck me the most was how uniquely different their relationship was with each of their girls. Like anyone else, they filter things through their own experiences. And those experiences shape and create the dynamics that become their own unique relationship with each of their daughters. Where one parent sees a sweet, kind and sensitive child looking back at them, the other sees pure unadulterated excitement in her eyes. In another daughter dad sees a look of awe and wonderment and mum sees the intensity in her eyes, watching, learning, trying to figure things out.
And that’s the beauty of the individual. The beauty of knowing that we are unique to everyone around us. That we need each other to be whole, yet we bring something so different to every person we meet. The more I photograph families, the more I see just how incredibly intertwined each relationship is…how they never look the same. And that right there, is worth celebrating!
