I was looking forward to seeing Chloe again for the first time since her surgery last June. She had finished all of her radiation and chemo the day before Christmas and was now cancer free. Definitely something to celebrate…but not just for Chloe. For Eve, too. Not only had Eve put her own life on hold to ensure Chloe’s treatment, happiness and well being, but she also turned 30! And anyone who turns 30, needs to celebrate…if for no other reason, the fact that she survived her 20’s and possibly the worst year of her life. So that’s what we did. She picked me up at the airport and we headed to the MGM Grand. I had arranged with her husband for us to have a few days at the hotel by ourselves before my conference started.
When your flight arrives at 6:30am, you have some time to kill before you can check in to your hotel room. So I surprised Eve with a trip to the Hotel Spa. A day well spent is spent with a friend, a good massage, great food and wine. This was just the beginning of our wonderful few days together before the chaos and hectic schedule of the following week.
When the conference was finished, I had a few days with Eve before flying back to Hawaii. I’d heard rumors of a Ghost Town near Las Vegas, but I had never been. And this year, Eve and Joe decided the Ghost Town would be the perfect location for their family’s annual photos. Eve never disappoints when it comes to picking out the perfect clothing for their family pictures. And this year was no different. We had a wonderful afternoon exploring this remote little town on the outskirts of Las Vegas. I can not imagine how we will top this for their family photos next year.
