Being in the military, and moving constantly means you miss out on a lot. Sure, you have a lot of great adventures along the way, but you miss out on watching nieces and nephews grow up, grandparents become great-grandparents and building relationships with family that just isn’t the same when you live near by. During our college road trip, we stopped in Texas for a few days and spent some well deserved time out of the car! (Not nearly long enough though, trust me!) We also got to spend some time with my niece, Evelyn. We had met Evelyn last summer when we went back to Texas for a few weeks. We were suppose to be there for her birth, but she was impatient and was born before we even left Hawaii! Regardless, it was still amazing to be able to meet her and hold her at such a young age. Something we very rarely get to do living so far away from everyone.

Evelyn has grown up so much. I’m still not sure if she really loved us because we were family, or if it was because we gave her food, but either way, I’ll take it. Little Miss loved shoes. (Can’t say I’ve ever seen a 1 year old so particular about what goes on her feet before!) Loved her “Bubbas” (her two dogs) and loved to eat! She was a lot of fun to spend time with and I am so glad we had those few days to spend with her. She will be so much bigger and independent the next time we see her, whenever that will be.
