Our studio is tailored to fit a classic and timeless look for your family. It is important for the success of your portrait that certain styles and colors of clothing be used. It is strongly recommended that you follow our dress code to ensure a beautiful final result.
Dress as if you were going out to a fine restaurant, wedding, or formal ball. We ask that you please dress formal. For many, this becomes the most elegant portrait they will possess in a lifetime. Most portraits do not drop below the knees. In general, we ask that you wear dark clothing so as to keep the light reflecting on the face and eyes; not the clothing.
Adults
Men – A dark tuxedo or suit jacket of some kind will complete the look.We recommend a white or coordinating dress shirt that will look great with or without a tie. If you have facial hair, make sure it is groomed appropriately.
Ladies – Chose a gown that is dark or jewel toned dress or with little or no patterns. Classic jewelry such as diamonds or pearls are encouraged. Hair, make up, and nails are expected to be in good order and professional hair and make up is highly recommended but not required. We find it best if your dress has sleeves as it will draw attention to your face.

Children
Young Girls – A dress is recommended for girls as well. Please select something within the same color palette as the rest of the family, similar to the dark or muted solid dresses. However, light pinks, cream, or off white are also acceptable for younger girls, about 5 and younger. Girls may choose sleeveless or shirt sleeved dressed.
Young Boys – An outfit similar to the men is a good choice. Although jackets are the best choice, young boys may also wear a dress shirt along with a vest in lieu of a jacket. A solid colored sweater is acceptable as well. Lighter colors are acceptable for younger boys about 5 or younger.
Groups – Everyone should wear the same or similar colors. Color unifies everyone and creates a greater sense of harmony.
*Ballet, equestrian, and musical instruments are also encouraged for your portrait.
