I cannot believe the past 17 years have flown by as quickly as they did. It seems like just yesterday this young woman decided she was ready to meet the world, even though she technically still had 9 weeks to wait! With her dad deployed, my mum flew to Hawaii to watch the younger two kids and Denae and I embarked on her college road trip. And a road trip it was! From California, to Nevada, Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and back to California. It was the quickest two weeks road trip I have ever done, the most ground covered and the least amount of scenery enjoyed! We met up with her grandparents in Las Vegas so Papa could help with the driving. I am so thankful we did. As many times as I’ve driven I-10, it never gets any more interesting. We visited 2 colleges in Colorado, one in Texas and one in Arizona. Caught up with friends in Las Vegas, Vale, Colorado and Colorado Springs. Spent a few days with family in Texas and then headed back to California. Like I said, quickest 2 weeks ever!

While we were driving through Nevada, we pulled over to enjoy Walker Lake. After driving through a whole lot of nothing for what seemed like days (it was really only a few hours!) Walker Lake looked like an oasis. It was windy and hot, but equally as beautiful. I took advantage of the winds blowing Denae’s hair all over the place and took some of my favorite photos of her from the trip. Denae begrudgingly allowed me to take photos of her during the trip because her daddy was deployed and wanted to see photos of our adventure. Really though, I knew I was taking these photos because I didn’t know how much longer she was going to be at home with us.
